Flat-bottom cryogenic tanks are prepared to withstand adverse conditions over the years, and this shall not affect them excessively. In order not to alter their operation, routine checks must be performed on each of the elements that make up their structure. Some of the tank safety devices that are regularly checked are the PSV (safety valves), the rupture discs and the emergency taps. The correct maintenance of flat bottom tanks allows maintaining safe infrastructure and to protect the people who perform operations in the plants every day.

In the last month, Cryospain has, for example, sent spare parts and new safety devices for the flat bottom cryogenic tank located in Doha (Qatar), in order to carry on a preventive maintenance section. This tank was built in years 2015 and 2016 in an area affected by extreme high temperatures and dry, and for the storage of LOX (Liquid Oxygen). Hostile climatic conditions such as high temperatures or low humidity are studied by our engineers, when planning and elaborating the tank and they adopt these constraints to the final design.

In the flat-bottomed cryogenic tank installed in Doha, an exhaustive maintenance will be carried out, ensuring the fundamental pillars of quality and safety that Cryospain maintains in all its services and works.

We welcome our two new draftsmen – designers, who have training and great experience in the use of industrial design software such as AUTOCAD, INVENTOR or SOLIDWORKS. We also welcome in our production department two new austenitic stainless steel TIG process welders – GTAW “Gas Tungsten Arc Welding”. This additional human capital reinforces our productive capacity accumulating more than 30 years of experience each in steel construction. The cryogenic works carried out at CRYOSPAIN are very delicate and can reach temperatures up to 4ºK (-269ºC).

Cryospain, an international company specialized in design, production and repair of equipment for the cryogenic industry, has recently carried out successfully an emergency intervention on a critical cryogenic installation.

We have managed to stop and fix the issue in record time.  In spite of the logistical difficulties that we are suffering due to the sanitary situation that we are facing at the moment and that the facility is located near the city of Paris (France), about 1,300 kilometers from our production center.

During last month of august, one of our customers whose activity is the filling of liquid helium vessels, contacted our commercial department for a leak in one of its vacuum insulated filling ramps. This client requested a quick and safe action to continue with its cryogenic filling operations. Given the magnitude of the problem, work at the plant came to a complete halt, preventing to deliver liquid helium to end users. This issue caused very important losses to our client and that is why our action required the highest possible speed.

Cryospain’s operational capacity was able to make happen that, in just 5 days, including our operator’s journey time, the plant was back in operation and began to produce again normally. The leak was detected 2 hours after arrival of our vacuum technician, carrying out as a first step an helium leak test. Once the leak was situated, we proceeded to fix the leak with a welding seem. this allowed to repair the damage in only 30 minutes, after which a new helium leak test was performed to check the results. To finish the reparation and startup again the plant, 4 days of vacuum were carried out. This will allow a good insulation and enhance the durability of the repair.

After the execution of this repair in record time, Cryospain is strengthened as a reference company for repair and maintenance of cryogenic systems. Having a highly qualified human capital and machinery of the latest technology, allows us to be ready to perform urgent repairs, anywhere in the world using our mobile cryogenic operations equipment


Cryospain, a company specialized in cryogenic systems engineering, is in the process of a new cryogenic pipeline design for the retrofit of a ship from diesel-fueled ship to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Thanks to the introduction of the new IMO 2020 regulations, more and more companies are deciding to trust Cryospain to carry out the transformation of their ships to low emission propulsion systems.

This project will be the seventh of the LNG ship adaptations designed by Cryospain’s team. The new facility will consist in 70 meters of vacuum insulated (VIP) pipes with diameter DN100 and 120 meters of ventilated pipes with diameter DN100.

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is a cryogenic product that is transported at less than 160 degrees below zero, a circumstance that allows storing much more quantity in the same space than with CNG (compressed natural gas). LNG is presented as one of the best options for maritime transport because it is a clean, accessible fuel and has a cheap price.

LNG compared to fuel oil and diesel reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 20 to 25%, the main culprits of the greenhouse effect. It also eliminates emissions of solid particles in suspension, reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) by at least 80% and virtually eliminates emissions of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulfur oxides (SOx).

At Cryospain, we are always committed to guarantee quality solutions, that is why we rely on the most demanding international certificates. The marine class for this project will be Bureau Veritas, a company with more than 190 years of experience.

The project will last 20 weeks. It is currently in the design phase, planning and verifying all the details to fix any adverse circumstances that may be encountered. The second phase will involve the manufacture and pre-installation of all the elements necessary for the adaptation of the LNG on the ship, such as: pipes, connections, control and safety elements.

Once the second phase will be completed, all the necessary elements will be transported to begin the assembly operation on the ship. This process will be carried out at the West Sea shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. In this shipyard, there have been previous collaborations and the confidence in Cryospain for the design and elaboration of this type of conversions is once again demonstrated. The whole process will be supervised by our project manager. It is expected to be finished during the next year 2021.

Cryospain designs, manufactures, and supplies turnkey high-pressure gas cylinder filling stations using cryogenic process.

We adapt our design to the need of our customer. We perform a detailed study of the customer requirements and select the safest, most reliable design, matching the proposed production structure.

This kind of plant is proposed to domestic and overseas markets. We also propose after-sales and maintenance services of these installations, being or not designed by Cryospain.

The gas filling stations include gases such as oxygen (O2), Carbon dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen (N2), Argon (Ar), Protoxide (N2O) and mixtures of one or various of these. The gases and its mixtures may be used for industrial application, such as welding, in agri-food businesses, such as packaging in inert atmosphere and medical or healthcare.

These industrial gases are compressed in liquid phase, using cryogenic reciprocating pumps, and allowing a pressure up to and not limited to 300 barg. Cryospain designs and manufactures customized filling ramps with a capacity up to 20 cylinders simultaneously.

A new project of vacuum pipes (VIP) has been awarded to Cryospain. The complete manufacturing process, from design to installation, will be carried out according to the client’s needs and the most restricted regulations. 

This new cryogenic pipeline will be installed in Huelva, Spain. This project is another example of how Cryospain, thanks to its technology and technique, is a reference in the design and manufacturing of cryogenic pipes.

This large-scale pipeline will be used to conduct cryogenic gases up to the delivery spot which has been specified by our client. Cryospain’ s vacuum pipes are developed thanks to the knowledge acquired in almost 20 years working in the cryogenic industry. Our experience gained in many successful international projects, together with a highly experienced team, have made us a technological and manufacturing reference in this type of piping.

These types of projects are carried out following 3 optimized phases, from the arrival of the request from the client until the delivery and installation of the pipes in the specified place.

1 Design: Our department of engineers and draftsmen make specific designs for each project. In this way, each project is submitted the stress and infinite element calculations, quality and safety assessment for the entire pipe network. They also generate 3D visual renderings to be able to represent the installation prior to its production and to be able to preview the optimal routing of the pipe.

2 Production: Our workshop team of specialized operators carry out the production and welding of the pipeline in transportable spools, following the guidelines set by the design and engineering team. Once these processes are finished, they proceed to carry out the quality tests according to the specified regulations depending on the cryogenic gas to be used. Once it has been checked that the pipeline passes all the quality tests, it is packed for subsequent shipment to the indicated destination.

3 Assembly and supervision: In this project with destination Huelva, we will carry out the assembly work, the installation and supervision of the erection during the months of October and November 2020. Our engineers supervise the assembly, anticipating the difficulties that can be found and following the highest quality standards.

This project with destination Huelva is composed by 130 meters of pipeline for the conduction of Liquid Nitrogen (LIN), with approximate pipe dimensions of 33×1.5 mm and an average service pressure of 25 Bars. Quality, technology, and good service are the fundamental values of the company.

This new project will consist in a total of more than 220 meters of vacuum pipe with design pressure of 16 Bars and diameter of DN20 and DN40. The entire pipeline will be subject to several quality tests, as well as the helium leak tests in which Cryospain is a reference in the industry.

Our team of design engineers and draftsmen will soon begin the first phase of drawings elaboration, which will be provide to the workshop for the production. The elaboration of each part, element and their corresponding joints and welds will be produced during the last quarter of 2020, to be ready for delivery and sent to Ukraine in January 2021.

Cryospain, a reference company for cryogenic engineering in Europe, starts a new project for the design and production of vacuum pipes (VIP) for the transfer of Liquid Nitrogen. This installation will be part of a cryogenic facility located in the city of Zuidbroek, The Netherlands.

At Cryospain we are experts in the design and production of cryogenic vacuum-insulated pipelines. We offer our clients the highest technology and a team of engineers and professionals specialized in the cryogenic industry. Our extensive experience in cryogenic piping is backed up by the countless international projects we have carried out around the world. This new project will consist of a total of more than 200 meters of vacuum pipe with an estimated pressure of 17 Bars. In all the section of the pipe, the specified regulations in force will be applied and the corresponding helium leak tests will be carried out to confirm the maximum quality of our products. This is a stamp of identity that Cryospain has as a basic value, the quality in all our work. This project will comply with the design code: EN 13480.

Our team of design engineers and draftsmen have already started the first phase of drawings, which will be passed on to the workshop team within 3 weeks. The elaboration of each part, element and their corresponding joints and welds will be carried out during the month of August, then the pipes will be ready to be sent to the Netherlands.


Despite the difficulties that arose from COVID-19, at Cryospain we continue our work on new international projects thanks to our advanced digital ecosystem and human capital trained in the latest technologies.

This time, we have been assigned a project of 2 flat-bottom cryogenic tanks to be installed in the Russian Federation. The tanks to be designed will have a capacity of 1500 m3 of LIN (Liquid Nitrogen) and 1000 m3 of LOX (Liquid Oxygen) and will comply with the current safety regulations required for this type of installation. Cryospain is committed to the safety and quality of its products and designs, which is why we are a reliable and a leading company in the design of cryogenic systems.

Cryospain will carry out the tasks of designing the tanks, producing each part and element that is part of this product and sending it to its destination in fulfillment of the incoterm DAP supply. Subsequently, the client will carry out the field assembly, being supervised by one of our specialized supervisors to ensure that the established designs, the rigorous international safety standards and our high quality standard are met. At present we are in the first phase, during which the main drawings are being made, such as the general layout drawing, civil works guide drawings with loads, assembly drawings for the inner and outer tanks and the ITP.

At Cryospain we already have experience in flat-bottom cryogenic tank projects that shall comply with the specific regulations of the Eurasian community; We have supplied a large capacity cryogenic storage tank in Uzbekistanfew years ago. Our cryogenic designs and productions are adapted to the new official and international regulations required by each country in their respective cryogenic projects.


At Cryospain we are experts in carrying out tailor-made engineering projects, adapted to the needs of each client. We are currently developing a cryogenic engineered system designed for the unloading of road tankers and the refilling of one small scale LNG regasification plant.

This custom-made pump skid has been designed and will be installed in a new resort infrastructure in Jamaica. A technological system that will provide the gas needed to feed the entire complex with electricity. This skid has been designed to safely discharge the LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tanks that feed the satellite regasification plant, which converts the LNG into gas.

This process is fundamental to be able to feed a “tri-generation” power plant, to obtain electricity, heat and cold through the natural gas. Natural gas is a clean and environmentally friendly energy, if we compare it with other traditional fossil fuels. It emits 95% fewer particles, 85% less NOx, and no heavy metals or SO2 into the atmosphere. In addition, it reduces noise and vibration emissions by more than 50% compared to a standard diesel engine.

Cryospain has been appointed for the development and design of a new flat bottom tank (FBT) of 5.000 m3 of liquid nitrogen. This ambitious international project in Asia is located in the city of Hsinchu, (Taiwan Island).

The flat bottom tank is being developed by Cryospain Engineering and will be used for liquid nitrogen storage and supply (LIN) in the electronics industry, for the development and production of last generation microchips. This is a  highly technological field where Cryospain fits perfectly thanks to its advanced technique in the design, production and processing of cryogenic infrastructures.

Some remarkable features of this large flat-bottomed cryogenic tank are the low temperature storage (-196º C), 100 mbarg design pressure and API 620 design code.

This is the fifth project of that type in which Cryospain, thanks to its experience and technology, participate in the transformation of a large ship to an alternative and more ecological fuel. A new international project has has been awarded to Cryospain. In this occasion it is about the design and construction of a Flat Bottom Cryogenic Tank with a capacity of 1.500 m3, to store Liquid Nitrogen (LIN).

Cryospain is specialized in the design, manufacturing and construction of Flat Bottom storage tanks at low pressure and low temperature following design code EN14620. With more than 18 years of experience designing and manufacturing cryogenic tanks , we have executed up to 40 tank projects all over the world: Taichung (Taiwan), Kalinganagar (India), Texas City (USA), Krakow (Poland), Krivói Rog (Ukraine), Qarshi (Ouzbekistan), Singapore, etc.

This new cryogenic tank is located near the city of Verona (Italy), whereit will be installed and built by the beginning of next year. The design process will be carried out by our experienced engineers and draftsmen, who will apply the highest quality and safety standards in the industry.

This new Cryogenic Flat Bottom Liquid Nitrogen Tank is intended to be ready to be in service by the middle of 2021.


The hydrogen fuel cell has positioned itself as a potential substitute for fossil fuels and large, heavy batteries. This technology is being selected by the main manufacturers of industrial engines: trucks, ships, agricultural machinery, etc.

Hydrogen is currently used for two applications,one is obtaining electrical energy from fuel cells andthe other isstoring overproduction of energy from the electrical network. To achieve a totally sustainable extraction, hydrogen can be obtained through different renewable energies, such as wind, tidal, hydroelectric, solar … Etc. These green energies are used to obtain electricity with which we can carry outanelectrolysis of water (H2O), to separate the hydrogen (H2) from the oxygen (O2).

Some of the workshop tools that make us stand out, are those that we use for high vacuum equipment, such as:

  • Helium detector: by means of this tool, tests are carried out throughout the entire equipment to comply with the industry quality and safety standards. Any possible leak in the vacuum chamber will be accurately detected using this procedure.
  • Cutting machine: our new cutting machinery allows us to cut pipes accurately, safely and with a high quality finish. It allows the desired finish by setting several parameters, such as the angle and thickness of the cut.

    • First outer tank shell course
    • Concrete slab on external tank bottom
    • The 7 layers of foam glass

  • Inass, S.M. | Arizona:The project has not stopped, as the Arizona area is not much affected, compared to other states.
  • Rubén, S.M. | Uzbekistan:The project didn’t stop, the workforce is still working out there and we were finishing the foam glass.

3- What protective measures were taken in your project?

  • Juanfran, S.M. | Singapore:From mid-February or earlier, masks were delivered to all site workers, and temperature measurements were taken on arrival at work in the morning and on departure for home. In mid-March, a minimum separation of 1 meter was imposed in the construction site offices and in the common areas, where workers rest and eat. On March 30, a case was reported on the project and the job was shut down. We were able to return on April 2, 3 and 4, then the government came up with measures to stop all non-essential activities.
  • Inass, S.M. | Arizona:A daily record of the workers’ health status is performed, their body temperature is taken before entering the plant…
  • Rubén, S.M. | Uzbekistan:If you came to the site from another part of the country, this was generating issues because authorities wanted to limit the exit from the site.

4- What were the first measures taken in the country of your project?

  • Juanfran, S.M. | Singapore:Distribution of masks, recommendation to avoid crowded places, recommendation to use the mask, measurement of temperature in workplaces and public buildings… As of mid-March, there is an obligation to maintain a minimum distance in workplaces and public places. From April 7th onwards, closing of non-essential activities, obligation to be at home and only go out if necessary, and obligation to wear a mask”.
  • Inass, S.M. | Arizona:There are states in the US that have closed down construction sites, but not in Arizona. The shops and offices are closed.

At Cryospain we are making use of teleworking to offer our services with the same efficiency by using our internal project management network.


Since last week, in Cryospain we have oriented our production and repair activity to the support of our national health service in the fight against COVID-19. Additionally, we are supporting indirectly the food industry, critical supply chain in this moment. All other non-essential activities have been postponed and all CRYOSPAIN office team is available, working at distance from its confinement place.

CRYOSPAIN is committed to the constant training of its technical team. Few weeks ago, the company has proceeded with an exhaustive advanced training of its technical office to improve their skills in the field of development and design of pressure piping systems. The software we currently use is AutoPIPE, recognized worldwide for its reliability and its wide range of application.

With this very powerful tool, the safe design of our pipe in pipe technologies can be ensured, creating a virtual model of the design proposed to the client and obtaining reliable results in static and dynamic stress analysis. Additionally, the software incorporates powerful tools to acquire linear and non-linear analysis including temperature, pressure, wind, waves, buoyancy, snow, seismic and transient loads.

Among its most interesting sections, the AutoPIPE software includes the design of class 1, 2 and 3 nuclear piping systems and several advanced analysis tools such as nonlinear hydrostatic analysis, thermal curvature or stratification analysis and seismic response spectra analysis of enclosures for energy, oil and gas processes. These studies can be applied to different environment such as: underground, offshore and submarines.

This software is certified to meet the strictest design standards, including 10CFR Part 50, 10CFR 21 and ASME NQA-1-2008 / 2009a.

Cryospain is currently supervising the building up of several cryogenic flat bottom storage tanks designed and manufactured in its premises around the world: in Singapore, Uzbequistán and USA (Phoenix).

These are some of the most important projects that we are executing right now. Our Field Engineers are committed to supervise and control every step of the tanks´ building phase to comply with the highest quality and schedule standards and to perform all these activities in a safe manner.

Our service for this product is integrated; this includes all project phases, from the design up to the completion of the construction. The follow up is made along the project starting with understanding the requirement of our clients, going through the total design of the tanks, supplying the materials, pre-manufacturing the kit in our shops, necessary for the construction of the tank, and transporting the materials to the client´s location.

Our Field Engineers are working daily in the building up location to coordinate the teams that work on the project. Their commitments are:

Nowadays, it is more and more common to see new means of transport fueled by more environmentally friendly fuels as electricity or Natural Gas. These kinds of transports are not only more positives to the environment, they have also important economic benefits. Between these different options, we can find out an increasing trend of the engines powered by Natural Gas, among which:

  • Overland transport: Cars, buses and trucks.
  • Railway transport: Trains and trams.
  • Maritime transport: Ships,vessels and ferries

The railway and maritime transports have their own fueling systems at ports and stations but, what happens with the overland transports for personal use?

For cars, buses and trucks exists the Natural Gas for Vehicle stations (NGV) or Gas Station. The number of these Gas stations is increasing due to the demand of this fuel and the low availability that actually exists.

For those who have FAQ about the process of how to fuel CNG, here we detail the phases:

  1. Park the vehicle as close as possible to the NGV station system to go through the process easily. It is compulsory to turn off the engine and lights, and not to smoke, use the mobile phone or generate sparks.
  2. Unhook the supply hose from the NGV station.
  3. Couple the hose to the supply device of the car and ensure the correct connection. Once it is connected, turn the hose 180º to unlock de safety valve.
  4. To start the fueling, press the START button. You can pause or stop the fueling process at any moment pressing the STOP button.
  5. Once the loading procedure is completed, it is the same process backwards. Turn the hose 180º and uncouple it from the car.
  6. Hook the supply hose to the NGV station applying a slight pressure.

LNG bunkering infrastructures are expanding and there are increasing numbers of LNG-bunker infrastructures which are encouraging new operators to also adopt LNG. These LNG facilities have grown to encompass 24 out of the world’s top 25 bunker ports globally.

Asian governments are also endorsing LNG as a marine fuel, with South Korea’s government announcing plans to develop LNG bunkering facilities in the country. In 2018, Japan’s MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) announced its support of the country’s first LNG bunker vessels to supply cruise passenger ships and container traffic, near Yokohama port. Also Singapore, the world’s largest bunkering port, granted subsidies to build LNG bunkering infrastructures to its two licensed LNG bunker suppliers.

Cryospain next project of LNG piping installation for the retrofit of a ship will be delivered in Shanghai, the maritime and fluvial port that can operate with more than 35 Million TEU annually.

Our scope of work on this project will be the design and supply of:

  • > 50 meters of simple cryogenic pipes
  • > 70 meters of double wall cryogenic pipes
  • > 100 meters of double wall ventilated pipes
  • + Design and supply of supports between inner and outer pipe for double wall

The development of these tasks of the project is guaranteed by exhaustive and detailed procedures following standards and test:

  • Shop manufacturing drawings procedures
  • NDT testing specifications.
  • Fabrication in full compliance with the construction code and DNV standards.

Cryospain, leaders in engineering for low temperatures application, is going to deliver its 5th project for the design, supply and installation of the LNG bunkering lines in a ship.

Since legislators at the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s

confirmed the ban on carrying non-IMO 2020 compliant Heavy Fuel Oil, more and more companies have decided to retrofit their ships, vessels and other maritime transports means to LNG engine. This technology much more environmentally friendly has also an important economic reduction on the cost of the gas consumption.

Important factor to design vacuum insulated piping

A critical part of vacuum insulated piping design is stress calculation of the pipe. As cryogenic piping can contract or expand up to several millimeters per meter, it will generate significant stress and be the main factor to choose routing, thickness and support location.  Also, the pipes are installed in critical plants such as LNG receiving terminal, air separation plants, LNG powered ships as cruisers or ferries, hospitals and biotechnical facilities so the performance during all life cycle is critical for the reliability of operations of our customers.

Design and Loads

For a good design achievement, Cryospain shall work very close to its customer because in addition to thermal loads, easily defined, cryogenic piping can be subject to several external loads than can affect its performance on long term or in critical moments. Some of the most important and sometime ignored loads can be:

  • Fatigue: Number of cycles expected is very important since the behavior will not be the same for a 24hours/365 days operation pipe that it is always cold compared to piping that can be cooled down and warmed up every day for start-up operation purpose. Underestimating cycles could lead to early failure of bellows.
  • Surge analysis:In case of quick opening of valves with high flows, as it happens for bunkering operations, the forces caused by “water hammer” will determine support type and location as well as structure. The forces generated by this trend can be pretty strong; on another hand, a detailed transient surge analysis can help to avoid important overdesign.
  • Enforced displacement: Unfortunately, structures are not completely rigid and under some conditions can impose significant displacement to be added to thermal displacement. This is usually an issue we can encouter in tall tower, connection with equipment as tanks or on ships.

Other loads can also affect to piping design such as wind, seismic, snow, bowing effect but those are rarely relevant and offen standard.

Software to calculate

We have decided to run AutoPIPE Advanced to make perform these calculation for the design of vacuum insulated piping as we have found it one of the most accurate and powerful software to use on the market. Its easy data input system combined with the capacity to make transient calculation for loads allows us a comfortable safety margin and avoid us to fall into overdesign.

Cryogenic Piping Design is a teamwork activity

A close collaboration between the different disciplines of the design team will certainly lead to find an enhanced design of cryogenic piping for our customers, making it safe for the overall life cycle of the pipe.  Later, our high-quality manufacturing and quality control process will transform our design into a real pipe.


Cryospain, leaders in engineering for low temperatures application, is going to deliver a new project for the design, supply and installation of the LNG  bunkering lines in a ship. In this occasion, the project consists in an adaptation of the engine system to Liquid Natural Gas of an industrial ship from Socarenam. This adaptation has been decided in order to comply with the IMO Sulphur 2020. 

The LNG is the best way to replace the Fuel Oil because its Sulphur rate is below 0.5% (m/m), reducing between a 25% and a 30% of the greenhouse effect gases. Also, the emissions of other polluting elements such as the SOx and NOx are close to zero in comparison with the traditional maritime fuels.

The LNG fits perfectly with the IMO  Sulphur 2020. This will significantly reduce the amount of Sulphur oxides emanating from ships and should have major health and environmental benefits for the world, particularly for populations living close to ports and coasts.

Cryospain will participate with its latest cryogenic engineering technology on a new international project, the aerospace program

SABRE (Synergetic Air Breathing Rocket Engine) located in Westcott, Aylesbury, United Kingdom.

The revolutionary part of this SABRE engine is that it relies on an heat exchanger capable of cooling incoming air to −150 °C (−238 °F), to provide oxygen for mixing with hydrogen and provide jet thrust during atmospheric flight. Cryospain will develop the design and produce the transmission line system of liquid Hydrogen from the storage tank to the basement of the engine.

This project of top notch engineering positions Cryospain in the forefront of the transmission technology of liquid Hydrogen. The last phase of the installation will take place at the Anglo-Saxon base of Reaction Engines LTD

High-end engineering at low temperature


Cryospain is a company leader on the cryogenic market

Our technical team is skilled for the maintenance of the cryogenic installations, repairing or substituting several device type and resetting it as it was when it was brand new.

This week, our workshop has received a road tanker full with liquid Nitrogen for medical purpose which wasn´t working properly. After analyzing which were the reasons of the issues that did not allowed the extraction of the liquid Nitrogen, the conclusion was that the cold end of the pump was not operating correctly.

We proceeded to the replacement of the cold end and verified the proper operability. Our skilled workshop staff performed the commissioning of the system including the examination of the functioning and all safety protocols.

Our client´s liquid Nitrogen road tanker is ready again for its medicalapplications. The entire process was performed in an extreme short period of time and with the security of having been executed by a company specialized on cryogenic systems with more than 17 years´ experience.


Our next project is established on the South-East coast of Ukraine: Mariupol. The new Flat Bottom Storage Tank (FBT) will have a capacity of 1575 m3 of liquid oxygen.

The project has been awarded in october 2019 and the equipment will be delivered by mid-2020.

These filling racks counts with their corresponding vacuum system to empty the cylinders before the filling, high-pressure valve panel, purge panels… and a piston pump for filling up to 250 barg.

In addition, two filling trolleys for 20 cylinders have been delivered, each for filling cylinders of capacitiy5, 7 and 10 litres of Nitrogen and Argon service. These filling trolleys are fitted with their corresponding vacuum system. The trolleys are transportable on wheels around the plant. 

Electrical control panels have been supplied together with the filling racks and trolleys.

CRYOSPAIN S.L, a family-owned business based in Pinto; MADRID; SPAIN, has supervised on the field the hydro-pneumatic tests of a flat-bottom cryogenic tank in Krakow, Poland last week. The storage tank, with a capacity of 1500 m3 of liquid oxygen, has been awarded to CRYOSPAIN under a design, supply and field supervision contract, and shall be operational by the end of 2019.

The hydro pneumatic tests for the inner tank and pneumatic tests of the pipes have been successfully passed, and the project is now pending to be completed, the next field works being the chemical cleaning, painting, perlite filling and finally the cooldown.

Cryospain S.L has developing a new technology for the manufacturing of a liquid CO2 electrical gasifier and power range from 30 KW to 100 kW, whose maximum operation pressure is 100 bar.

This equipment has been built in stainless steel, which counts with CE according with PED 2014/68/UE and cleaning for Oxygen service.


Cryospain S.L is ending the mechanical assembly of the cryogenic flat bottom storage tank LOX service with capacity 3.280 m3 in Texas City.

In this phase, the last shell of the inner tank is being installed, after that, the roof hoisting will be carried out.

Some fresh news from our Texan projects: Freeport 4.000 M3 LOX tank has been mechanically completed by February 2019; Texas City 3150 M3 LOX tank construction has started by the beginning of January 2019 and is already showing a 21% completion.

CRYOSPAIN S.L. has started up a self-designed NGV station in HUELVA, South SPAIN. This station allows the municipality to load its new CNG powered buses. CRYOSPAIN S.L. is currently working on the design and installation of an extension of this plant to open this plant to the public (supply of CNG & LNG)

CRYOSPAIN S.L. has recently started the construction of a new NGV station. This turnkey project will be implemented in the South of Spain and operation of the plant will start in October 2018. The first phase of the project includes a CNG dispenser to load public transport buses. In a second phase, the project will be upgraded with one CNG and one LNG dispensers for public use.


CRYOSPAIN S.L. completes successfully a project of vacuum insulated pipelines for the transfer of liquid helium at temperature 4,5ºK. The project, installed in Germany, includes single and multiple vacuum insulated pipes. The multiple cryo-pipelines consist in having several process pipes jacketed in a single vacuum chamber; this high end technology permits to optimize the thermal efficiency of the system.


Cryospain S.L. performs successfully a cryoline network project for an LNG powered vessel. The project included the certification of the company to work for marine application by the third party RINA. Cryospain has designed and manufactured in its Pinto workshop and then site built in SEFINE shipyard 60 meters of vacuum insulated pipelines following the marine industry standards.


Cryospain S.L. has initiated this month the construction of its first cryogenic flat bottom storage tank in Freeport, Texas, USA. This storage tank of capacity for liquid oxygen will enhance the reliability of our customer industrial gas network in the Gulf Coast.
